KENYA CULTURAL SAFARIS

With over 42 tribes, Kenya is truly a country with diverse people and culture. The most dominant and popular being the nomadic people:
 - The Maasai - a fierce pastrolist tribe that once dominated Kenya,
they can be lethal killers of Lions, as a tribal custom as well as to protect their livestock.
 - The Samburu who are part of the Masai group and have common customs and language (Maa). However, they are a graceful people - charming, beautiful and witty.
 - The Turkana occupy land in the northern section of Kenya and are generally thought of as a very tough people, surviving off harsh, dry land.
 - The Rendile are a handsome people ranging from Lake Turkana to Marsabit and are always on the move with their camels and livestock.

8 DAYS TURKANA VIA MARSABIT AND THE CHALBI DESERT

A Maasai Ceremony, KenyaDay 1: Nairobi/Samburu
09:30hrs: Depart Nairobi for Samburu Game Reserve on your way to Samburu drive via Nanyuki town for lunch, passing through very pleasant country-side with coffee and tea plantations with good view of the peaks of Mt. Kenya in clear weather. Set up camp. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 2: Samburu
Morning and afternoon game viewing in Samburu with a lunch and leisure break at camp in the mid-afternoon. During the leisure breaks you can visit a nearby lodge for a shower and swim at no extra cost.

Day 3: Samburu/Marsabit
Early morning pre-breakfast game drive. After breakfast depart for Marsabit via the singing wells of the Boran tribe which is quite a colorful ceremony as they fetch water in a long queue cum chain singing in their mother tongue; they also bring their livestock to water at the same time. Late lunch at camp then spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 4: Marsabit/Kalacha
After breakfast proceed on a game drive in the nearby Marsabit National Park including a stop at ‘Lake Paradise’ which is a natural water-hole in this park which is essentially an oasis. Drive on to Kalacha, picnic lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight at the campsite in this settlement at the edge of the Chalbi Desert.

Day 5: Kalacha/Lake Turkana
After breakfast depart Kalacha for ‘Loiyangalani’ the common term used for the South-Eastern shore of Lake Turkana across the Chalbi desert, also by-passing North Horr. Lunch on arrival. Rest of the afternoon at leisure for a well deserved rest, having crossed Chalbi. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 6: Lake Turkana
A full day by the shores of Lake Turkana during which you can visit the El Molo tribesmen in their village, who are said to be the smallest tribe in Africa at extra cost. Rest of the day at leisure. Caution should be exercised near the lake as its waters are crocodile infested. All meals and overnight at the campsite.

Day 7: Lake Turkana/Maralal
After breakfast depart Loiyangalani for Maralal town, viewing picturesque and pristine desert landscape and scenery and the various nomadic tribes that inhabit the Northern part of Kenya grazing their livestock which includes camels. Lunch will be served en-route. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 8: Maralal/Nairobi via Thompson Falls
After breakfast, depart Maralal for Nairobi via the Thompson Falls with lunch en-route. Arrive in Nairobi early evening.
